About Michael.

With over 15 years of experience across operations, sourcing, and business execution, I currently serve as Director of Sourcing & Procurement, working closely with executive leadership to drive initiatives across global operations.

My background includes serving as COO at InCharged, where I effectively operated as a Chief of Staff - working as a right-hand partner to leadership, stepping into ambiguity, and driving execution across all areas of the business. That same approach carries into my current role, where I work cross-functionally with leadership and revenue teams, often stepping into complex or undefined situations and taking full ownership from start to finish.

I’m highly analytical, structured, and process-driven, but also bring a strong sense of creativity and common sense to how I solve problems. I enjoy connecting ideas, improving how teams operate, and ensuring that strategy translates into real execution.

My Personal Passion of Rentals.

Zillow Rentals immediately stood out to me - not just professionally, but personally.

I spend a significant amount of time on platforms like Zillow and Apartments.com, constantly exploring listings, layouts, pricing, and how properties are presented. It’s something I’ve naturally gravitated towards for years, and what started as curiosity has turned into a genuine passion for the rental space. I’m constantly scanning the market, even when I have no intention of moving, and I’m consistently pulled into the user experience when it comes to the rental industry.

That interest is what led me to launch 360° East on the side, creating Matterport 3D tours for apartment communities. I wanted to be closer to the product itself - to understand how listings are experienced, how decisions are made, and what makes a rental feel compelling or not.

This role feels like a direct intersection of that passion and my professional experience.

How I Think About This Role.

One of the characteristics of the job listing that excites me most is the focus on stepping into areas that aren’t fully defined yet and helping shape them.

That’s where I do my best work. I actively seek out challenges like this.

I’m comfortable jumping into situations with limited information, asking the right questions, identifying gaps, and building structure that allows teams to move forward. I enjoy problem solving, thinking creatively, and finding ways to improve how things operate - especially in environments that are growing and evolving.

I’ve also spent much of my career working closely with revenue teams, supporting initiatives that directly impact growth. I’m motivated by outcomes and enjoy being part of the process that moves the business forward.

Why Zillow Rentals?

I’m extremely selective about the roles I pursue and do not apply in bulk. This is not a casual or random application for me - this is a role that genuinely stood out which is why I’ve taken the time to express my interest.

My goal has never been to move around from job-to-job frequently, rather to find the right environment where I can contribute meaningfully, grow, and make a long-term impact. I am in no rush to leave my current position, but when an opportunity such as this arises (which has been a dream of mine), I can’t let it go by.

The Director of Strategy & Business Operations feels like a natural fit - combining my experience in strategy and execution, my ability to operate in ambiguity, and my genuine interest in the rental space. This position is what I’ve worked my entire career towards.

I also see opportunity. Zillow Rentals is already a strong product, but like any platform, there are areas to improve, evolve, and grow. I’d value the chance to be part of that process and help take it to the next level.
